Member questions

The things most members ask first.

What types of membership does Royal Blue offer?

Royal Blue offers two tiers: Individual and Corporate. The Individual membership is our most popular — built for the member and their immediate family, covering everything from sandbar afternoons to offshore game days. The Corporate membership is structured for executive teams and businesses, with a credit balance that flexes across client entertainment, team offsites, employee rewards, and the annual company event. Both share the same fleet and the same caliber of captain — the difference is who you're bringing on board.

Who can utilize my membership?

Individual memberships extend to your immediate family — spouse, partner, and children under 21. Because every Royal Blue trip is captained, your family can enjoy the boat without the primary member being on board. That means a Saturday sandbar afternoon for the kids and their friends, a girls' day with mom, or an in-laws-only sunset cruise — all under your membership, with the same captain-led service. Guests, friends, and clients are welcome on member trips, and your Member Experience lead handles the details.

What kind of boats are in the fleet?

The fleet is built around the day you want to have on the water — not a one-size-fits-all rental. Members can choose from inshore flats skiffs for tailing redfish at low tide, Freeman center consoles for the jetties or a Gulf Stream run, a 37' Axopar for harbor cruising and sandbar afternoons, an Express Sportfish for offshore game days, and a 70' luxury motor yacht for sunset cruises and entertaining. Our Member Experience team matches the day you envision to the vessel — and the captain — best suited to deliver it.

How do membership credits work?

Members start with a Royal Blue credit balance — a bank you draw from across every boat in the fleet and every experience the club hosts: inshore mornings, offshore runs, sandbar afternoons, member tournaments, the oyster roast, destination weekends. Credits also cover concierge spend — food, beverage, gratuities — so a single day on the water is one balance, end to end. Unused credits don't drain in your off weeks; they accumulate while you're traveling or busy, ready when you're back on the dock.

How often can I book a boat?

There are no caps. As long as you have credits in your account, the cadence is entirely yours — back-to-back days, a week on the water, or a single sunset cruise a month. Most members find a rhythm somewhere between every weekend in season and a few days a month; we'll help you size your credit balance to match the year you actually want.

Are all trips captained?

Absolutely. Every Royal Blue trip is led by a USCG-licensed captain who knows the waters, the tides, and the day's bite. That means no launching, no docking, no fueling, no maintenance worries — just step on board, pour a drink, and enjoy the day. Whether it's a sunset harbor cruise, an offshore run for mahi, or a family sandbar afternoon, your captain handles the boat so you can be fully present with your guests.

Where are the boats located, and where can I board?

The fleet is staged across several Charleston-area marinas, positioned to put the right boat on the right water without a long run. Members can meet their captain at the marina or take advantage of door-to-water convenience — pickup at one of a dozen dedicated locations around town, or right at your own private dock if you have one. Tell us where you want to start and end the day; we'll route the boat around you.

Do you offer fishing?

Yes — and we take it seriously. Inshore captains who can put you on tailing reds and slot trout on the flats, jetty pros for sheepshead and bull drum, and offshore captains who run the Gulf Stream for blue marlin, mahi, wahoo, and yellowfin tuna. All tackle, gear, bait, and licenses are taken care of. Just bring sunglasses and an appetite for the cleaning station.
